How to Apply

You are now taking the first step to becoming a student at A+ World Academy. Below you will find our simple 3-step application process.

If you have any questions along the way, I am here to help you at every step. If you can’t find the information you need on our website, please feel free to contact me via email, phone, FaceTime, Skype, Facebook, or Instagram.

Good Luck,

Ben Gronvold,

Director of Admissions

The Process

A+ World Academy admits students on a rolling basis, and we do not have an application deadline. Given that there are limited places available, we highly recommend that you apply as early as possible. However, you may submit an application any time until the ship is filled for the upcoming academic year.

You may request information either by email, phone, Facebook, Instagram, Facetime, or Skype. We would be delighted to send you our academic prospectus and to speak to you in person, over the phone or via Skype about the program, life onboard, and about what happens next.

Step 1: Fill out your Application

We will require the following to process your application:

  • A complete online application form, including any pertinent educational information that might assist the school in understanding the student’s learning history (e.g. an educational assessment)
  • An application fee of 150 Euro
  • A scanned copy of your passport

Step 2: Submit supporting documents

Once your application has been submitted you can upload supporting documents:

  • School transcript or other relevant progress report from the previous three years.
  • Two academic letters of reference
  • A short essay on a topic of global significance (300 words)

Step 3: Interview

When the application has been submitted, including all the supporting documents, an interview, to be conducted over Skype, will be set up.

We aim to process and review applications as quickly as we can. Depending upon the time of year, we hope to pass along our decision within two weeks of completing Step 3.

A Guide to Possible Decisions:

Offer: The applicant is offered a place on the ship for the upcoming academic year.

Wait List: The applicant is placed on the wait list and will be offered admission, should a space become available.

Conditional Acceptance: The applicant is offered a place that is conditional upon reaching a certain grade, level, or swimming ability by a certain date.

Non-Acceptance: The applicant will not be invited to enroll if we feel that we cannot meet the needs of the applicant and/or the applicant is not a good fit for A+ World Academy.

In all cases, we will send you our decision by email. Applicants given an offer will  subsequently receive a welcome package in the mail.

Accepting your offer

You can accept  by paying a non-refundable 10% deposit of the tuition within 14 calendar days of the initial offer. If the deposit is not paid within 14 calendar days, we cannot guarantee a place will be held.

Prepare your journey

Your welcome package will include several documents that need to be filled out and returned electronically. These include, for example:

  • A Medical Fitness Report (including blood type)
  • Swim Test Certification (200 meters non-stop followed by 20 minutes treading water)

You will also need to book your flights to the school’s starting destination for that year, fill out course- and essay selection forms, secure necessary visas and parental consent forms, and get the required vaccines. We will help you along the way.

Domestic students who are applying for support from Statens Lånekasse will have to fill out a P-form for the school to sign, and acquire a “forhåndstilsagn” from a counselor at their current school.

Now it’s time to relax and get excited about the journey ahead!

Note: We will assess the student’s English level based on the short essay and the interview. It is important to note that we do accept ESL students, but their English skills must be at an intermediate to advanced level in order to meet the demands of our rigorous academic program.
